PYP Springboard

PYP Springboard is a new series for teachers and students of the International Baccalaureate® Primary Years Programme, supporting a school's inquiry programme and the teaching of the units of inquiry. Edited by well-respected PYP expert Simon Davidson, the series:
- Covers a broad range of units, reflecting the variety found within IB® schools’ programmes of inquiry and addressing some of the more challenging units to resource
- Provides age-appropriate fiction and non-fiction books, including books for less and more able readers, to be used flexibly by students for inquiry without being constrained by grade or level
- Offers non-prescriptive, flexible support for teachers to use and adapt to develop strong units of inquiry
How does the series work?
There are
18 inquiry boxes in the PYP Springboard series. Practitioners can choose from 6 units per age band (Early Years: ages 3-6, Lower primary: ages 6-9 and Upper primary: ages 9-12), one for each transdisciplinary theme. Click on a title to find out more:
Each inquiry box includes:
- Up to 15 mixed-ability fiction and non-fiction books to enable students to practise research skills and explore their own lines of inquiry within the unit. View our complete book list.
- A Teacher’s Manual which gives guidance and practical suggestions on how to deliver the unit of inquiry. It includes links to the appropriate transdisciplinary themes and skills, key concepts, PYP attitudes and learner profile.
